When Nehemiah started building the walls in Jerusalem, it was not by accident. He did not suddenly appear one day in Jerusalem telling everyone to start working. Nehemiah, after seeing the need, prayed and planned accordingly. He then got the support of the King and went to Jerusalem to first of all, inspect the city, and then to organize the work. Obviously, opposition rose and he endured to the end. In many ways I identify our ministry with Nehemiah’s project. This year has been the start of the work, even though we have been doing the ground work as Nehemiah did for some time. For the last 4 years, we identified the need, prayed, and planned in order to start the work. It is not that we did nothing before, but it feels like this last year has become the sum of all our efforts. Your support has been the way the King of kings has supported this work, even in the midst of opposition and trials. Our ministry focuses on three main a reas of work, and this year each one of these areas was impacted by the accumulation of experiences, efforts and encouragement received from all of you. In the Outreach area, we published, in association with the American Bible Society the “Nuevo Testamento Buenas Nuevas para Ti” (Good News for You New Testament) of which over 4,000 copies were distributed in Washington, Oregon and California and in Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit and Guerrero in Mexico. Also, a matching website and radio program were produced. The work in Tieton continues with the Aguilar family leading the way. A Bible study outreach was started in Toppenish every Thursday night and it shows great potential for future work. In the area of Church Mobilization, this has been our busiest year yet. We had 7 short term mission trips, 6 of them to Mexico for Health Fairs, Vacation Bible Schools and Exploration emphasis. A seventh trip was a Reverse Short Term mission where we welcomed fellow believers from Costa Rica and Panama to do Evangelism and Training (including Jail ministry), in Yakima and Toppenish. Also, this year in the Area of Leadership Development we completed the ground work for a Bible Institute in the Yakima Valley with a Diploma in Bible in cooperation with the Puebla Bible Seminary in Puebla, Mexico. The Leadership Retreat in Mexico celebrated its 5th year with record attendance, and the 1st Multicultural Women’s Conference in Yakima was a great success this year. Next year already promises lots of exciting projects! In the same way Nehemiah organized everyone to work, our goal is to reflect and improve on our structures and plans in order to face the upcoming challenges with success. The Luis Palau Festival in July, Reverse Short Term Missions trips with teams from Costa Rica, Mexico and Venezuela coming to the Yakima Valley for outreach, and all the ongoing ministries will keep us “building” into the next year. I hope you will be there with us! Just as Nehemiah could not do it without the support of others, we cannot do it without your support. Please keep us in your prayers. As we celebrate this season of the birth of our Savior, I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and once again, thank you for your support and encouragement.

This year we had two separate Health events. Westside Baptist Church sent a team last spring of dentists, nurses and others who were able to physically touch and attend to over 850 people. Prairie Baptist Church from Prairie City, OR, also sent a team who also were able to touch more than three hundred people. In each case, the teams set up in a location early in the morning and announced that there was free medical screening. Immediately, people would begin to show up and most times the teams would work until after dark. Each person that came through had their blood pressure, blood sugar, vision, and a dental hygiene exam (during Westside Baptist’s health fair) as well as a gospel presentation. Upon leaving, each person was given a bag containing personal hygiene supplies such as toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, as well as a N ew Testament. Although it is impossible to quantify the fruit from these outreaches, we do know that many people heard the gospel. For example, Charlie and his parents and sister came to know the Lord three years ago as a result of the first medical mission. We also know that some individuals were identified with life threatening illnesses that were able to addressed by the right specialist because of the medical mission. Today each location these teams visited has ongoing outreach and we look forward to seeing vibrant New Testament Evangelical churches established and growing in these communities.

October 24th marked the first annual city-wide Women’s Seminar on Conflict Resolution. Held at the Howard Johnson hotel, this seminar was a free, all day event specifically designed to be a multi-cultural outreach to the community. Suzanne Hale spoke on dealing with conflict from a Biblical perspective, and Linda Montgomery was able to translate so all the women could learn in their own language. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, music, and learning. The theme was “Tending the Garden of My Heart”, which mirrors the Women’s seminars do ne the last 2 yrs. in Atotonilco, Jalisco Mexico. It was exciting to see over 50 women sharing ideas and getting to know one another, and we look forward to planning next year’s seminar to continue to meet the needs of all the women in our community to grow in healthy relationships based on God’s truths.

Tieton, WA – Aguilar’s: The work continues with a great number of people trusting the Lord but many are just passing through because of work. The group is meeting at the Presbyterian Church Building and the relationship with this Anglo congregation is growing. Bible studies with new believers and ladies in the church are ongoing. Please pray for the new believers to see the need for Bible study and other spiritual disciplines, the Aguilar Family and their financial support.
Arandas, Mexico – Sali’s: This past year has been the busiest yet for the Sali family and the work continues to grow. Last September this family renewed their commitment for 2 more years as Short Term Mission Coordinators in the Central Mexico Field.

Vacation Bible Schools
Two Northwest churches sent short term teams to do VBS outreach in Arandas, Mexico. Bethel Church from Richland, WA, worked alongside the Arandas Baptist Church, while Ahtanum Pioneer Church worked with the Arandas Bible Church. The reports are good! The Arandas Bible church was able to do outreach in a new neighborhood and are planning to rent a new space to start a second work. If that doesn’t get you exited, I don’t know what will! Bethel Baptist has just completed their fourth annual trip, which is encouraging to see the faithfulness they have shown over the years. The relationship that has been established with the Arandas Baptist Church is an example to the world here and there of what it means to be one body.

Vision Trips
Highland Community Church sent four of its members on a vision trip in August in preparation for the church’s service trip scheduled for the end of November 2010. The team included Pastor Marc Dowd, Youth Pastor Jeff Kerns and his wife Molly, and Keith Rumble who works for Great Commandments Ministries at the ACTS facility in Tieton, W A. The team has been sharing with members of Highland Community Church the potential areas of service available in the highlands of Jalisco. These areas are being discussed as the team is coalescing. The team hopes to be able to serve the churches as they minister in the highlands of Jalisco, as well as learn more about the culture in order to better serve the Hispanic members of the Highland community as many have come from this region. Please pray for the team “From Highland a Los Altos.”

Exciting Happenings for 2010
We are excited about our 2010 schedule! In addition to our annual Highlands Health Fair in Jalisco this January, and the annual leaders retreat in October, we are taking an evangelistic team over spring break to Mexico as part one of out major focus for this year. This coming year we have purposed to focus on those Mexicans that the Lord has placed right here in our back yard. So, we have limited the summer activities to focus on Tieton, Toppenish, and Yakima. Two teams have confirmed that they will be coming to the Yakima valley on what we have dubbed the “Reverse Mission Trip.” A team of 15-20 people from the Highlands of Jalisco, along with a team from Dallas, Texas, will be joining New Life Bible Church, Westside Baptist Church, Tieton Bible Church, and Calvary Bible Church. We plan to do outreach, community service, and some < font face="Arial" size="2">medical outreach as well.

From the Chairman's Desk
2009 has been a wonderful year of ministry for CrossLink! God has been stretching us with new opportunities this past year. At times, the choices of where we should go & what we should do have been difficult to make since many doors of ministry have opened simultaneously. Thank you for joining us, as partners; praying for this ministry, financially contributing to the funding of the work, and joining in the labor of touching others. Some of you have been a voice, a listener, a hand, a healthy back, or another important part of the body as we have reached out to people who need to hear, see, and feel the person and message & of Jesus’ love and redemptive work!
CrossLink exists to fulfill a calling from God to impact people for Him. Celebrating Thanksgiving eve at Iglesia Bíblica Vida Nueva, our first-planted independent Bible church in Yakima, I was tremendously blessed to hear the testimony of Silvia Vasquez. Silvia is a vibrant witness for Christ, and is very involved in the ministry of the church. She said:
“I was raised in a religious home. My mother taught me to respect God so I would receive His blessing & have a good life. At the age of 18 years, I came to the United States where I met many people who lived by very dif ferent standards from what I had learned. I became friends with many people who did things I felt was wrong, but these things were a normal part of their lives. I became so confused! I began to pray to God asking Him to show me if there really was a heaven & a hell, and a right and a wrong. I was frightened, not know what would happen to me when I died. Shortly after that, I began attending IBVN where some relatives had found answers to their questions about God. It was here I discovered what God did for me, through Jesus dying on the cross for my sin, and I received His wonderful gift of eternal life! That was five years ago! Tonight, I am so thankful for my new life, in Christ!”
God is in the business of changing lives! The changes have many faces, but we endeavor to introduce people to the changing power of God for their lives, wherever they are in their walk through life. We invite you to continue supporting us in this work of sharing Christ! Opportunities for CrossLink have never been greater for sharing the gospel and planting new churches in Central Washington! Please pray, give, and come help us as God leads you!
