THE SALI FAMILY IN THE HIGHLANDS OF JALISCO |

The crazy summer is coming to a close! It's been far too long since we sent out an update, so we'll have to skip over quite a bit, but here goes...
January 30 - February 9: West Side Baptist Medical
Remember February? We sure do. A group of dentists and nurses, primarily from West Side Baptist in Yakima, came to put on five days of health fairs. They served around 800 people, far more than any other event we have sponsored. |

Ready for the eye doctor |
A local eye doctor gave exams and handed out reading glasses, the nurses checked blood pressure and blood sugar, and we had educational games for children (not to mention lots of tooth pulling by the dentists). Each person who came was presented with the gospel in a small group setting.
Pray for the planning under way as we prepare for the 2010 dental group! |

March 12 - 16: Trinity Family Fellowship Vision
Leaders from Trinity Family Fellowship in Yakima came to explore how they could work with one of the local churches. Judah introduced them to many local church leaders, as well as some great places to eat.
March 24 - April 1: West Side Baptist Women's Conference
A small group from West Side came to support and teach at a day long women's conference on conflict resolution. Women from churches all over the region attended. |

March 6 - 12: Campaign in Arandas
Christians from around the region as well as a group from Lancaster, California converged on Arandas for a week long evangelistic campaign in support of the Bible Church. They did service projects in neighborhoods, handed out New Testaments, and invited people to evening movies in the street. Judah worked all week with members of the Bible Church to house and feed everyone.
June 19 - 22: Border Trip
After several weeks of getting everything ready here for summer events, we headed to Texas for our bi-annual visa renewal trip. We enjoyed meeting Alyssa's mom in McAllen and heading home with school books and plenty of Cheddar cheese!
Pray for strong family ties across the miles. |

July 2 - 10: Prairie Baptist Medical
A group from Prairie City Oregon that ranged in age from 2 to 80+ did a great job of running health fairs in four small towns. Last year, in one town police shut down an event sponsored by the local Evangelical church. This year, armed with two nurses and written permission from the county, we were able to see over 200 people in the same town. |

July 18 - 26: Bethel Baptist Bible School
Bethel Baptist Church in the Tri-Cities sent an energetic young team to help the Baptist Church in Arandas put on their annual Vacation Bible School—something that would not be possible without the partnership the two churches have formed over the last three years. We enjoyed having the group at our house for lunch and dinner and Lane and Benjamin did great at Bible School. |

July 24 - August 3: Ahtanum Pioneer Bible School
The Ahtanum Pioneer Church of Yakima sent a 16 person team to partner with the Bible Church here in Arandas. It was the first large scale VBS by the Bible Church, so we were excited to have 120 kids come during the week. Because of the good response from parents in the neighborhood, the Bible Church has decided to hold Sunday morning meetings in the same neighborhood at least once a month—one of the neighborhoods targeted by the campaign earlier this year.
Pray for the follow up and Sunday meetings in the neighborhood. |

August 9 - 15: Music Camp
The third annual music camp took place this year in Pajacuarán, Michoacán. Excellent teachers from all over Mexico and the United States shared their passion and skills with youth and adults from the region who are interested in leading worship in their churches. Judah was able to hand off much of last year's responsibility and even made it to some classes on sound board. Alyssa stayed home, thanks to a more experienced voice teacher being available. Good thing, too. She was playing nurse to some pretty sick little boys! |
|
|
August 18 - 21: Highland Community Church Vision
Leaders from Highland, Washington came to explore how they could partner with a local church in the fall of next year.
August 24: Back to School
Classes here started the 24th, so even though we didn't really take a summer break, the boys started their new curriculum at the same time. Alyssa is pumped, to say the least. |

Rest: Judah will be catching up on projects for his other job (computer programming), so I guess that's not actually rest, but it's more regular!
Regular Life: We look forward to getting back to a routine with church on Sundays, prayer on Wednesdays (Judah), Bible study on Thursdays (Alyssa), and burgers on Fridays.
Pray for our relationships with believers and neighbors now that we have time to focus on these more wholeheartedly again. |
